Shila Baksi received her B.A. (Honors) and M.A. in Sanskit from the University of Calcutta, India; her second M.A. in Anthropology (Linguistics) from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Washington State University (1991). She has taught at the University of Idaho and the University of Central Florida. At WSU, she teaches courses in anthropology and world civilizations. She has conducted fieldwork among the Untouchables in India and her research interests include language and culture, culture change, gender and morphology.
