The fund was created by Bea and David Taylor, who were graduate students in Anthropology in the 1960s and worked closely with Ackerman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDr. Ackerman gave us the opportunity to do field work in Alaska, and we treasure the experiences,\u201d the Taylors said. \u201cThe Anthropology department gave us financial assistance which allowed us to pursue our graduate studies. We wanted to give back, so created and funded this endowment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2006, the fund has provided fellowship stipends for education-related expenses including tuition, fees, and research costs.
