Cultural Anthropology PhD student Sumanta Roy has been selected for the Summer Institute in Museum Anthropology (SIMA) Research Internship at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) in Washington, DC.

SIMA is a rigorous four-week, in-residence training program at the Smithsonian that brings together a small cohort of researchers for intensive work in object-based research and museum collections. Sumanta’s project, “A Shared Object: The Hookah, Everyday Sociality, and Labor in India,” explores connections between material culture, labor, and social life. His broader research focuses on informal e-waste workers in Delhi, India.
