Museum of Anthropology

The Museum of Anthropology welcomes two new faces this year!

Dr. Samantha Fladd joined the department as a new assistant professor and as the Museum of Anthropology’s new director. Prior to her arrival at WSU, Dr. Fladd served as a curator of archaeology at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Colorado-Boulder. She is focused on decolonizing practices in museum spaces, including cultural care, co-curation of exhibits, and community-engaged outreach.

Another new face is the Museum of Anthropology’s new curator, Madison Pullis. Madison has a background in museum anthropology and received her Master’s degree from George Washington University. Madison has worked within a variety of museums such as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History where she worked on collaborative projects connecting individuals and communities with museum collections. She is focused on reworking museums into inclusive spaces and reframing narratives about the past into more comprehensive and accurate histories.
